Hanna Sofia Gualandi is an Italian British composer and multimedia artist whose work explores posthumanism, ecology, and transdisciplinary composition. Combining acoustic instruments, electronics, field recordings, video, and performance, her practice investigates crossings between human and nonhuman worlds, technology and nature, embodiment and environment. Drawing upon ecological philosophy, feminist theory, and New Media Art, her compositions seek to cultivate more connected and ethical ways of perceiving and inhabiting the world.
She just completed an MSt in Composition at the University of Oxford, following a BA in Music. Gualandi studied Piano at the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini and has extensive experience as a choral scholar, performer, community musician, and educator. Recent projects have included performances and premieres at Modern Art Oxford, the Holywell Music Room, and the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, as well as collaborations with Ensemble ISIS, BBC 8 Voices, Neo Quartet, and the Oxford International Song Festival.
